Purpose and Principle of Aluminum Alloy Anodizing

Anodizing refers to the process of filling the workpiece (metal or alloy) as an anode by electrochemical method, and applying electrolytic oxidation treatment to form an adhesive oxide layer on the surface of the substrate. Generally, aluminum alloys are easily oxidized. Although the oxide layer has a certain passivation effect, as a result of long-term exposure, the oxide layer will still peel off and lose its protective effect. Therefore, the purpose of anodizing is to prevent further oxidation of the aluminum material and increase the mechanical properties of the surface. Another purpose is to improve the appearance by generating various colors (released color) through different chemical reactions.

Characteristics of Anodized Aluminum Alloy

General anodizing is also called "decorative anodizing". Its characteristics are that it can form a bright and corrosion-resistant surface on the surface of aluminum, and can choose bright surface treatment or matte surface treatment (pear surface) according to customers' preferences. Because the surface formed is porous and has excellent permeability, the surface can be soaked with organic or inorganic dyes or sublimated fine printing patterns, so that it penetrates into the pores of the capillaries, forming finished products of various colors and patterns and the color has various changes, which is the characteristic of general anodizing.

Application Range of Anodizing

Aluminum anode treatment uses the electrochemical principle to generate an oxide layer with a thickness of about 3-15 μ on the aluminum surface. The oxide layer can be used for color dyeing treatment.
